I’ve been following this family for years as I absolutely love their music and family chemistry. This is the first time I’ve ever seen Mama Petersen sing lead, and it’s pretty awesome. Stay tuned for their typical humorous outro at the end.
As for the lyrics, I think they really capture how we can go from Jesus being some far off baby/guy on a cross who lived and died thousands of years ago, to knowing Him as our personal Lord and Savior. In recent posts, we recognized how it’s God, not us, who is responsible for every part of this transformation. Perhaps you’re still out there as someone who doesn’t know Jesus personally. Or maybe you’re someone who has come into a relationship with Jesus, yet often feel distant from Him. Well, I hope the Holy Spirit uses these words to remind you that salvation was indeed for you personally, resulting in a renewed sense of joy.
Jesus, Jesus, King of Heaven
You were born so long ago
In a manger with the oxen
In the land I do not know
I read how you healed the leper
How you calmed the raging sea
Tell me, Jesus, King of Heaven
What has that to do with me?
Far away across the ocean
On a hill of grief and woe
There the stormy clouds did gather
As you bled and suffered so
Was I there with John and Peter
When the empty tomb they found?
Was I there when Doubting Thomas
Touched your side and then bowed down?
My heart is warm within me
You were standing at the door
Now I know, King of Heaven
Who you planned salvation for
Jesus, Jesus, King of Heaven
What have I to do with Thee?
Loving friend and precious Savior
You mean everything to me
