Command Or Declaration
#SaturdayShorts
This is quite an important statement from Mr. Bonar. It’s easy to mix up a command and a declaration. That’s especially true when we are confused about who is the one responsible for the doing. If we think it is up to us, then we may certainly act in a way where we think we are answering a command. Therefore, we emphasize our decision, or other action, which we believe leads to our salvation. Yet, in reality it is up to God, so He is the One doing everything when it comes to salvation. He’s declaring something to be done. Ephesians 1:4 tells us this is something He chose before the foundation of the world. At the cross, Jesus declared it is finished. It’s tough to make the case we had any hand in influencing those acts. Thank God for His declaration and that it doesn’t depend on us answering a command…
